Lake Palace Udaipur 2

An essential requirement for any traveller is not to compare the places he has travelled to. It is ridiculous to say that Venice resembles Amsterdam, or Bangkok or, even worse, Saint Petersburg, just because all these places have canals. There is something in the atmosphere, and it is not the architecture or the geographic morphology. I think it is difficult to come up with an exact word because the emotion is overwhelming.

The Taj Lake Palace is a haven of tranquillity, where I wanted time to stop and the magical isolation of the place to completely overcome me. I wouldn’t leave this island-hotel except for, maybe, a couple of hours, and only to go as far as the opposite shore to see the treasures in the palace of the maharaja..
